Tarot for Your Self: A Workbook for Personal Transformation (Greer)

Originally published in 1984, this classic is the first book to explore and promote the concept of reading the cards for personal insight – for yourself – with detailed instructions how to do so. The exercises can be enjoyed by an individual or shared with others, making it a popular text for classes and study groups. It uses meditations, rituals, spreads, mandalas, visualizations, dialogues, charts, affirmations, and other activities to help you establish your own relationship with the cards. It offers the best in traditional knowledge and know-how. Learn the many variations of three card spreads and ways of moving around the cards in the Celtic Cross Spread to get far more information than you thought possible. Use Mary Greer’s powerful “breakthrough process” with all your readings to turn them into truly transformative experiences.

Subject: Channeled Wisdom

The Astonishing Power of Emotions (Hicks)

This leading-edge book by Esther and Jerry Hicks, who present the teachings of the Non-Physical entity Abraham, will help you understand the emotions that you’ve been experiencing all of your life. Instead of the out-of-control, knee-jerk reactions that most people have to their ever-changing life experience, this work will put those responses into a broader context. You’ll come to understand what emotions are, what each of them means, and how to effectively utilize your new awareness of them.

As you read, you’ll come to appreciate, and make peace with, where you are right now, even though there is so much more that you may desire. Every thought you absorb will bring you to a greater understanding of your own personal value and will show you how to open your own doors to whatever you may wish to be, do, or have. And as you turn the last page of this book, you will very likely find yourself thinking, I have always known this, but now, I know this!

With study, dedication, and practice, the lessons and exercises in this book will empower you to transform the repetitive rigors of the daily grind into a witch’s web of magickal experiences.

The Inner Temple of Witchcraft is a thorough course of education, introspection, meditation, and the development of the magickal and psychic abilities that are the birthright of the witch. Four introductory chapters present the history, traditions, and principles of witchcraft, followed by thirteen lessons that start with basic meditation techniques and culminate in a self-initiation ceremony equivalent to the first-degree level of traditional coven-based witchcraft.

Subject: Mediumship/Connecting with the Other Side

Life Among the Dead (Williams)

The highly anticipated memoir from the star of the hit series Lisa Williams: Life Among the Dead.

When Lisa Williams was four years old, she told her parents about the spirits in her bedroom. Since those first sightings, Lisa has seen and communicated with thousands of people who have passed over, listening to their stories and delivering messages of comfort to the loved ones they left behind.

In Life Among the Dead, Lisa invites readers into her extraordinary life, from her childhood in Birmingham, England, where her grandmother – also a renowned psychic – encouraged her to respect and nurture her talent, to her decision to move to Los Angeles, where her smash-hit Lifetime television show quickly made her one of the world’s most beloved mediums. Lisa shares memories of her earliest psychic experiences and her gradual acceptance of her gift, and recalls many of the amazingly accurate communications she has shared with believers and skeptics alike. In her compassionate, down-to-earth style, she reveals exactly what it’s like to live surrounded by spirits every day, and she recounts the joy she feels in bringing solace to those who have lost someone dear and the insights she has gleaned about spiritual phenomena, hauntings, psychic healing, and the afterlife.

Warm, witty, and surprising, Life Among the Dead is a wonderfully intimate account of Lisa’s life as a medium, healer, wife, mom, and TV star who has already won the hearts of millions, a woman with an astonishing gift for seeing beyond the ordinary and into a mysterious and fascinating realm.

  1. Books about Tarot cards and such leave me cold. I could recommend some great books for future discussions:

    1. Ken Wilbur: Sex, Ecology, Spirituality
    2. Jenny Wade: Changes of Mind: A Holonomic Theory of the Evolution of Consciousness (S U N Y Series in the Philosophy of Psychology)
    3. Steve Zafron, Dave Logan: The Three Laws of Performance: Rewriting the Future of Your Organization and Your Life (J-B Warren Bennis Series)
    4. Lewis Hyde: The Gift: Creativity and the Artist in the Modern World (Vintage)

These are books that are shaking the world, and would make for extremely rich discussions.

  2. Cliff,

Thank you for sharing your suggestions.

An online search showed Ken Wilbur’s book may not be readily available, but the other titles were easily found. Of these, Lewis Hyde’s book interests me the most.

  3. Here’s another possibility:

Anatomy of the Spirit: The Seven Stages of Power and Healing
by Carolyn Myss, via Andrea Costantine.

    Thoughts?

  4. I’ve come to a decision about the next title to be read/discussed here at A Novel Paradigm.

As this is a forum for the discussion of books that are of a spiritual nature, and as I’ve felt most drawn to this title of late, the book will be Ester Hicks’ The Astonishing Power of Emotions.

Discussion will begin one week from today on Wednesday, April 22nd.
